On January 3 local time, the inauguration and handover ceremony for the Kijangwani Bus Station Project, constructed by China Railway Construction Engineering Group East Africa Company, was held in Zanzibar, Tanzania. The event was attended by Zanzibar President Hussein Ali Mwinyi, National Committee Chairman Mohamed Said Dimwa, Zanzibar Mayor Idrissa Kitwana, and Social Security Fund Board Chairperson Huda A. Yussuf.
President Hussein Ali Mwinyi highly praised the overall progress and construction quality of the Kijangwani Bus Station Project, commending the East Africa Company’s project team for their efficient execution and outstanding construction capabilities. He noted that the project’s completion will significantly improve travel conditions, enhance convenience and comfort for local residents, and stimulate local economic development, thereby increasing regional vitality.
The Kijangwani Bus Station Project is located in the Kijangwani area of Zanzibar Island. It includes 128 shops, three waiting platforms, more than 70 bus parking spaces, over 4,000 square meters of outdoor pedestrian walkways, and over 12,000 square meters of concrete driveways. The facility also features offices, a power generation and distribution room, private parking areas, and other functional zones, covering an area of 16,127 square meters.
